Art Direction / Visual Development / 3D / Post-Production
With a background in graphic design, the project was approached as a visual system rather than a collection of separate disciplines. Identity, scenography, graphic elements, 3D reconstruction, animation and color were developed as connected parts of the same production.

Investigadores da História is a History Channel series built around historical events and their reconstruction through interviews, archival material, dramatization and visual storytelling.
The visual language of the series extended across different stages of production, requiring decisions about identity, scenography, 3D, animation and post-production as part of the same visual system.
The visual identity combined historical references with a contemporary graphic language, incorporating typography, textures, image treatment and glitch-based elements.
The visual environment of the series was developed as part of the storytelling, combining physical scenography with graphic and digital elements used throughout the production.
Historical events were reconstructed in 3D, creating environments and visual simulations that could be used to explain the sequence and dynamics of each event.
Instead of turning the reconstructions into photorealistic renders, the production used the 3D viewport itself as part of the visual language. The result gave the viewer the impression of following the investigators as they explored the reconstructed events.
FARO scanning technology was introduced into the production through a partnership with the brand. The challenge was finding a meaningful way to incorporate the resulting point-cloud data into the visual language of the series.
Rather than treating the scans simply as technical data, the point clouds became part of the reconstruction itself. Moving a camera through these scanned environments created a distinctive way of visualizing the spaces and reinforced the idea of investigators examining a digital reconstruction.
The 3D reconstructions were designed to clarify how an event unfolded, using environments, objects, camera movement and simulation to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Color correction and grading were handled in DaVinci Resolve, while the graphic assets developed for the series were delivered for integration into the final edit.
The purpose of the reconstructions was not simply to illustrate the events, but to make their dynamics easier to understand.
